New Year New You with Whole Body Detox

How to Start to Support your Body Through Natural Detoxification

1. Eat Fiber - 40 -70 grams per day help with elimination and binding of toxins.

2. Hydration - drink a minimum of half your body weight of water in ounces.

3. Cruciferous Vegetables - Broccoli, cabbage, bok choy, and kale all support your phase 2 detoxification pathways in your liver.

4. Herbs- basil, parsley, cilantro, and mint all support your detox pathways. Can add to your water for a refreshing drink or simply blend into a wonderful sauce, pesto, or condiments.

5. Remove Detox Inhibiting Foods:
Refined sugar
Alcohol
Caffeine
High mercury fish- generally larger fish including shark, swordfish, fresh tuna, and king mackerel
Dairy
Soy (read labels)
Wheat and all gluten products
Processed foods

6. Stress management Daily stresses can add to an increase in overall systemic inflammation. Incorporate practices including meditation, breathwork, and yoga to support your resilience with stress.

7. Lifestyle practices
a. Sweat daily for 10 minutes with exercise or sauna use
b. Skin brushing will help stimulate the lymphatic system to help remove unwanted waste
c. Practice clean skincare: Check out the EWG which updates their Clean Beauty list to incorporate products that are environmentally friendly.
d.  Cooking tools: Use pans and pockets that are without metal coatings and synthetic polymers called PFAS and PTFE.

e.  Sleep:  sleeping allows your brain to reorganize and recharge itself by removing toxic waste byproducts that have accumulated throughout the day.  Poor sleep has been linked with long-term health consequences such as high blood pressure heart disease,  type 2 diabetes, and obesity.
